Just After Huawei P20 Release, Foldable Smartphone Could Be Revealed Very Soon

March 30, 2018 by thememeguy1 Leave a Comment

Here’s to the all new Huawei P20, in countries that you can actually activate it that is. It has three rear cameras which shows that Chinese smartphones maker Huawei is able to push the technology envelope, and maybe do a little bit of innovation at the same time. And their latest patent for a foldable smartphone may just have a run for Samsung’s money with their own Galaxy X rumored to be released eventually.

This shows what is obviously a smartphone that includes a bendable display in many different diagrams (as you can see below), and this is all according to a new Huawei patent filing as discovered by a Dutch publication firm named LetsGoDigitalToday.

This idea behind a futuristic looking and bendable phone is to provide users a tablet sized display, which is deal during long commutes on the plane or where ever you are. The idea of this concept smartphone is to let you fold it up into a smartphone sized form factor (and then to slip in your pocket afterwards).

There really isn’t any indications if or when Huawei will be able to pull this off with this foldable smartphone design in time for the sequels to the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, or the P20, and the P20 Pro coming up next year. Though, there are indications that it’s very likely going to be released before Samsung and Apple make a bendable smartphone.

Getting rid of the gap in between

What’s holding Huawei back?, well, even though they are the world’s No. 3 smartphone manufacturer currently, which they are also just behind Apple and Samsung, but the question is still an IF, if they will be launching the world’s first truly foldable smartphone.

If they don’t want to go with a gap in the middle of the two screens, according to comments from the Huawei CEO Richard Yu, this is exactly the design of the ZTE Axon M.

Huawei’s newest patent seems to solve the problem with a bendable display, though that’s merely on paper so far, and there are no signs of Huawei’s foldable prototype hardware just yet. The other problem is the durability of such a new technology. Though, we were recently told that the science behind such a display like this isn’t there to endure so many folds in a smartphone’s lifetime.

Samsung, Lenovo, Sony, LG and Apple, and now Huawei, are all appearing to be sketching out newer plans for a truly foldable smartphone, and it’s only a matter of time for one of them to take the throne as the best of the best foldable smartphone in the world.
